Calling all Mothers and Daughters

Speak from Your Heart

Too many Hispanic women are still unaware that heart disease is their No. 1 killer. Only one in three are aware of the threat to themselves and their family.

That's why Go Red Por Tu Corazón is calling on Hispanic mothers and daughters nationwide to share their stories. To share how heart disease has impacted their lives and the changes they're making toward a healthier lifestyle.

When you submit your story, you'll have the opportunity to receive a "Healthy Eating Makeover," with tips from an American Heart Association dietitian and from celebrity Chef Daisy Martinez. This can help you on your journey toward a healthier lifestyle for yourself and your family.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

  1. Share your written heart story (in English or Spanish) at GoRedPorTuCorazon@heart.org.
  2. OR, mail to:
Go Red Por Tu Corazón: Mother's Day
    7272 Greenville Avenue
    Dallas, Texas 75231

Read our official rules.

Don't delay. Stories will be collected April 26 to May 31. Spread the word to those you love -- your neighbor, your friend, your mother or sister.

HERE ARE A FEW QUESTIONS TO HELP GUIDE YOUR STORY

  1. How have you or your mother personally been affected by heart disease?
  2. What lifestyle changes have you and your mother made and how has this brought you closer together?
  3. How has your experience compelled you to change your family’s habits and educate your loved ones?
  4. Are there any traditional family dishes that your family cannot live without?
  5. Have you found a way to make these dishes healthier for your family? Is there a healthy recipe you’d like to share with us?

Share your story and help save lives.
